Family Friendly Foraging
Bushwhacker Tours provide a unique opportunity to experience the hidden treasures of the West Dorset and Somerset countryside, as well as the stunning Jurassic Coast. Your guide, Paul, is a ‘dyed in the wool’ local, and will give you a fascinating insight into foraging, flora and fauna, which will include:
Not only will Paul show you how to identify edible plants, (and how to find them when you’re back home), he will also show you the deadly plants and fungi you should avoid!
ANIMAL TRACKS AND FIELD SIGNS
How to read the land like a newspaper, and understand which creatures are in the area.
LOCAL HISTORY AND GEOGRAPHY
Little secrets that you can’t find in the standard brochures.
Some call this “Bushcraft”, but to many of us in this part of the world, it is simply a way of life.
Your guide, Paul, has the great fortune of being truly born n bred and local to the area. He has a passion for exploring the countryside, and he connected with the flora and fauna from an early age. Paul has also experienced the Arctic, the South American jungle, Australia, parts of Europe, and many areas of outstanding beauty in the UK.
He will be sure to regale you with many a humorous tale, not to mention the education in the finer points of his ‘playground’ that you will receive. His experience in tutoring adults and children in groups of varying sizes means that his tours are ideal for all ages and abilities, and family groups find them especially enjoyable – his Westcountry accent and softly softly approach is an experience in itself!
Paul takes great enjoyment in opening your eyes to what may once have been overlooked, and loves to see folk going home with smiles on their faces, and heads full of knowledge and new-found enthusiasms. Not happy with seeing folk leave and bidding a final farewell, Paul also provides an aftercare service at no extra cost, so you can re-cap on anything you think you may have missed.
